In 1861 he was living at Ashington Parish Cottage, Ashington, Somerset in the home of his son-in-law Uriah Bampfield, aged 57, a Carter from Salcombe, Devon, and his wife Sarah (William's daughter) also 57 from Hardington Marsh who is described as a Cater House Servant, son George, aged 19, unmarried and a Labourer from Ashington and grand daughter Sarah Pardy aged 9. William was 77 years old and described as a Decayed Labourer. His wife Ruth was living with him. She was 79 years old.

In 1871 he was living in the home of his son-in-law, Uriah Bampfield. Uriah who was aged 67 and a Labourer lived with his wife Sarah aged 69 and their granddaughter Sarah Pardy aged 19 and a Plain Needle Worker. William was 88 years old.

In 1871 William was living in Camel Street, Marston Magna with his wife and children Ann, George, Arthur and Ellen. He was a Boot and Shoe Maker.

At the 1881 census William Sherring, his Wife and grandson Arthur Sherring - age 4 (possibly son of Arthur Sherring & Rachel Moore) and grandson Frank Tutton age 14 (son of Eleen), were living at Camel Street, Marston Magna. He was a Boot & Shoe Maker.

Sp. Mary Ann FARMER ³ (1812-1892) [1180].

In 1871 she is living with her daughter, Sarah and family, in Lillington. She was 76 years old and states she was born in Martock, Somerset.

The grave of William and Mary Anne and their son Henry are in the churchyard of St.Mary's Church, Marston Magna, Yeovil, Somerset.
